I just completed a trip to Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands. Honiara, the captial city of Guadalcanal Island, is very third world. Really, the only clean place on the island that we saw, I’m proud to say, was the United States War Memorial. The old airplanes are part of a collection of war artifacts that a local has collected about ten miles out of town. The islands themselves have a natural beauty that is stunning. It is only ugly where humans have spoiled it. If anyone is planning a trip, take plenty of insect repellant, as Malaria is still a problem. All-in-all, a very interesting trip.
Also, this trip was just completed in December of 2011. The camera’s date defaulted to 2007, which is incorrect.
